What Luton Fitness Park is

We're a grassroots organisation (CIC), led by local people, campaigning for a free outdoor fitness park in Luton.

Not a private gym. No membership. Always open.

It will include accessible Para Workout equipment so disabled people can train alongside everyone else.

The idea is that it's a welcoming space where people from all walks of life can move, connect and belong. The first site would be in central Luton, which is easiest to reach by public transport and where inequality, poverty, and antisocial behaviour are most concentrated. The exact location is still being agreed with the council.

We've been in the local press, and we're collecting a petition from 1% of Luton's population so the council has to debate it and take us seriously. We're also writing a business proposal so we can apply for funding to build the first park.

Why Luton needs it

Nationally, 1 in 4 adults is physically inactive, and 1 in 6 deaths in the UK is linked to inactivity. In Luton, that lands on families and on young people with nowhere decent to go.

A lot of gyms are expensive, intimidating, or built around people who already train. For a lot of women, that's enough reason not to go. A free fitness park in the open is different: come in daylight, take a friend or your children if you want. It creates a space families can use together.

Teenagers get a real third space: somewhere to train, belong, and be seen, and a positive way to channel their time and energy.

A park like this helps regenerate neglected parts of the town. More footfall, more eyes. Over time, that makes the area feel safer.

We have a proposal page with the stats, if you're interested.

What we'd love from you

A short video clip, in your own words, about why this would matter. 15–60 seconds is plenty.

You need to be 16 or over and live in Luton. Say whatever is actually true for you. If it helps, pick one of these:

  • Why a free outdoor fitness space in Luton would matter to you
  • Why Luton, specifically, needs a space like this
  • What it would mean for people here to have a place to move and connect

You can start with: “Hi, I'm [your name], I'm from Luton, and I support Luton Fitness Park because…”

Email the video to us at lutonfitnesspark@gmail.com, or fill in the form below if you'd rather we film you.

Thank you for being up for it.
