The lack of third spaces has led to a disconnect between people. Underfunded community centres are unable to cater for both young and older people, which has contributed to a rise in poor mental health. Meanwhile, the global growth of the calisthenics community, particularly online, has demonstrated the positive impact that fitness can have on people's lives.
By creating an inclusive outdoor fitness park, we are intentionally designing a space that fosters a sense of belonging and encourages prosocial behaviour. It will be a place where people connect across backgrounds, support one another's progress, and build positive relationships through movement.
To extend this impact beyond the park itself, QR codes will be integrated throughout the space, making it easy for users to access guidance, discover local organisations, and connect with support, training, and community opportunities.
