The Issue
The current facilities fail to support the growing interest in outdoor fitness. Our parks are under-equipped. People want to be active and connected, regardless of age or ability.
An accessible free space to channel energy, we can tackle isolation and create belonging through movement. Building positive mental and physical health for everyone.
If nothing changes, we'll keep seeing rising apathy and poor public health. But with the right investment, the opportunity is there. LutonFitnessPark can be a safe place to train, connect, and build a stronger future together.
We've done the research. We've got the plan. Now we need your support. Show Luton Council our community is ready. We won't wait any longer for the investment we deserve.
This is for you and our community. Join the cause by signing the petition.
Our Demands
- Luton Borough Council grants the necessary planning permission and support for the development of a community fitness park in either Moor Park or People's Park.
- The park is designed to accommodate all ability levels, providing clear opportunities for progression from beginner to advanced users.
- The park includes a large (minimum area 10m × 42m, minimum surfacing 420m²), fully accessible outdoor fitness area equipped for people of all ages, backgrounds, and physical abilities, ensuring that disabled residents can participate and benefit alongside the wider community.
- A long-term maintenance and stewardship plan is established before construction is completed, ensuring the park remains safe, clean, welcoming, and well-maintained for future generations.
- A memorial plaque is installed to honour the memory of Lutoners who have lost their lives to knife crime and mental health struggles, recognising their lives and inspiring our community to work towards a safer, more compassionate future.
“In loving memory of the Lutoners, young and old, who have lost their lives to knife crime and mental health struggles. May your stories be the foundation upon which we build a more connected community and a meaningful town full of hope and joy.”
- Knife bins are installed where appropriate and in partnership with relevant authorities, with surrendered weapons recycled into elements of the park where feasible, creating a visible symbol of the town's commitment to reducing knife crime and promoting positive change.
- QR codes are incorporated throughout the park, providing direct access to local support services, including mental health resources, drug and alcohol support, mentoring programmes, and other community initiatives.
